ECLIPSE AT SEA:
The August 11, 1999 total eclipse of the sun will be observed at sea from the decks of the liner World Renaissance.. The eclipse viewing location will be approximately 43° North Latitude, 28° East Longitude, with the sun's altitude at 58°. Duration of totality will be 2 minutes and 21 seconds.

Dr. Tom Bopp
Co-discoverer of one of the century's most fascinating comets and an avid amateur astronomer, Tom Bopp will bring Comet Hale-Bopp to life through the exciting story of its discovery.
Richard Horwitz
Richard Horwitz was photo editor at Associated Press for 27 years in New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, and London. On eleven previous eclipse expeditions he photographed and transmitted eclipse photos from around the world.
Dr. Phyllis Burton Pitluga
Phyllis Pitluga, senior astronomer at Chicago's Adler Planetarium, is the veteran of nine past eclipse expeditions. She will share her wealth of knowledge about astronomy and eclipses with passengers.
Sharon Shanks
A lifelong interest in science and astronomy and a career path as a journalist led cruise coordinator Sharon Shanks to the planetarium field, one she says combines the best of both worlds.
Dr. James Trefil
Dr. James Trefil, Professor of Physics at George Mason University, is science consultant for Smithsonian Magazine, science commentator for National Public Radio, and the author of many books on science for the general public.

Cruise-Only fares: Quoted in U.S. dollars per person, based on double-occupancy. Fares are subject to change without notice.

Port Charges: $195 per passenger.

Royal Sea Air and Land Package: $995 per passenger (Includes roundtrip international air from New York, one night first-class hotel with buffet breakfast in Athens, sightseeing tour of Athens and the Acropolis and all transfers and baggage handling). For your total cost add the air/land package price ($995), air taxes ($75), and port charges ($195) to your cruise fare.

Cruise Combination savings option: Eclipse cruise passengers may combine their Black Sea Eclipse Cruise experience with a seven day pre- (July 30-August 6) or post (August 13-20) seven day Greek Islands/Turkey cruise and/or Holy Land/Egypt/Cyprus cruise on the Olympic Countess or Stella Solaris at discounted rates of 25% for a two week combination or one week free for a three week combination.

Royal Olympic reserves the right to substitute vessels, itineraries and/or lecturers.
